Good afternoon Lured Ones!

Bella, Dinah, Angel; Colored Pencil; 12″x9″

It’s such an exciting day because I can finally share with you one of the projects I’ve been working on! Like I said, I had to keep quiet, which was extremely difficult, because they were gifts for some close friends and didn’t want them to find out prematurely. Now that they have received and opened the gift, I can post about it!

Above is the finished trio-portrait of the doggies for Kayla and CJ. They are an extremely close couple to us, and they love their dogs. Initially they had their babies Bella and Angel, but Angel passed away. Later on they got Dinah, so they still have two dogs, but Dina never got to meet Angle. So I decided to make a picture putting all three doggies together!

I used a couple of reference pictures from their Facebook to do a couple placements and compositions on Photoshop and then drew out a simple sketch of my favorite to see how the composition looked on paper. I finally did a semi-detailed sketch again on nice paper and followed through with my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils (a Christmas gift from my husband a couple years ago <3). There was a lot of layering but that’s what makes it worth it!

I followed up with fixative to keep the colors vibrant and keep the wax bloom away.

Here are a couple of close-up shots:

So that’s one of the secrets that is no longer so secret projects I’ve been working on! I hope you like it! If you have questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact me here.
