A close-up of the piece.
It’s another exciting day because I can share with you another one of the projects I’ve been working on! Like I said, I had to keep quiet (it was difficult) because they were gifts for some close friends and I didn’t want them to find out prematurely. Now that they have received them, I can post about it!
The one I’m sharing today is a portrait of Russell and Emmy using Prisma colored pencils. Russell is an extremely close friend, and Emmy is his daughter. I saw a picture of them in the water and kind of fell in love with it. From the first time I saw it, I decided I had to draw, paint or do something with it. Since the holidays were approaching, it was a natural thought process.
This is the original picture, with slight cropping.
So I began to sketch and try to capture their likeness. It was kind of difficult because the image has a lot of details in Emmy’s life jacket. In addition, smiles with teeth are quite hard to capture. But I powered through and did the best I could.
Russell and Emmy, Colored Pencil, 16″x12″
This is the final piece. After I finished, I sprayed it with fixative to finish it off and also to prevent wax bloom.
I hope you enjoyed it! If you have questions and inquiries, please do contact me here!
Have an awesome day!
